Balance and Ruin

FIRST ART OF THE YEAR

and its a doozy. original size is 18X24, my biggest painting to date 83

this took me an hour and a half to put together after scanning So I ended up loosing a lot of the edge due to scanning and awkward shadows, but I managed to get this put up and together and Im happy with it 83.

FFVI’s terra and celes, world of balance and world of ruin. I just have to say that I love putting these two characters against each other like this. The game practically BEGS you too.

I put Terra in the world of balance, as shes most prevalent in that half of the game, and same to Celes and the world of ruin. but now for some thoughts on this.

Terra starts the game in a completely ruined mental state, Shes completely unsure of who she is, or what shes doing or wants, but slowly builds herself up through experiences. She at first fears and questions her powers, but slowly learns to embrace them and herself.

Celes, on the other hand, at the beginning knows exactly who she is. shes “a general, not some opera floozy”. She embraces and loves her powers. But Celes slowly gets torn down. Betrayal and misunderstandings, learning the cost at which she gained her powers, ultimately she nearly commits suicide.

The opposing mental states….it’s wonderful.
